Day 18 – Mishka
I get my driving license today and go for a drive all by myself, a new and heady experience at age 32. I have had a long day and all I want to do is put my feet up. But that would be giving up very easily on my character for the day. One slip and the Project 365 won’t be the same as before. So I give myself 15 minutes. I start fiddling with shapes in Illustrator and before I know it, I have a Babushka [Russian nesting doll] staring back at me, well more like smiling back at me. I call her Mishka. She is totally a Mishka, don’t you think?
She had 4 sisters and they would all nest and snuggle and play together. But one fine day they were all sold to different families. Mishka is always smiling but her smile holds back a heavy heart, as she lies in an intricate wooden toybox wondering whether she will ever see her sisters again.
Time Taken : 30 minutes
Softwares : Illustrator CS 4 & Photoshop CS 4
Font for Mishka : Tom’s Handwriting
In 2010, I have challenged myself to create 365 vector characters, one for each day of the year. Please Subscribe To My Feed to follow the series or Bookmark My Flickr Page to stay updated on the newest characters everyday.
