Project 365 Vector Characters – Miss Poppaberry For Day 1

In 2010, I have challenged myself to create 365 vector characters, one for each day of the year. I tried very hard to resist the temptation to indulge in this Project 365, knowing very well that I am already quite pressed for time and might not see it through. But since one of my new year resolutions is to push myself even further and learn more new things everyday, I thought that it would be a character building exercise in self discipline. And if I couldn’t stick to it every single day, I would try to pick up the slack on days that were more leisurely. So starting today, the 4th of January 2010, I pledge to create fun vector characters from either the top of my head or after obsessively thinking about them all through the day. The goal is to spend approximately 30 minutes every night to create a vector character in Illustrator and to design its presentation in Photoshop. As I always do, I will try to throw in some quirky story-telling and explore some typography in the presentation. I hope you enjoy this series, because I promise to have a blast! Day 1 – Miss Poppaberry
I had just sampled a handful of big, red, juicy but really sour strawberries when I opened up Illustrator. I had strawberries on my mind, so that is eactly what I created. An experiment in simple shapes with a juicy color palette from the Kuler website gave birth to Miss Poppaberry.
