It has happened to me once, my first project too. The CEO had made up his mind that he was sticking with the logo they had and his new marketing team were pushing for a rebrand and hired me. No matter what I came up with, he didn't like it. I ended up refreshing the typography and letter spacing of his old logo. Do you present a concept or do you present several concepts? Sometimes providing too many choices can confuse them and take the focus away from the strongest design. I usually work on a concept and present that one concept in color, grayscale, black, white, mark and type separate with maybe 1-2 color variations. The client gets to concentrate on and get used to the idea of the concept besides also seeing how it would work in color and black and white. :-) That must be very frustrating Carolina!
